The Yard Café Bar & Restaurant is situated in the centre of Swadlincote, within a listed Edwardian red brick building. The listed building was built in 1904, after it's initial use as a grain store in the 1960's, it was owned by a local timber merchant then it became an architect's office before finally being converted to its current use. The stunning exterior and interior have a contemporary feel, though traditional features also play a part in making this one of the best establishments of its kind in the area. It was opened in November 2003 to great acclaim, and since that time has established a reputation which goes far beyond Swadlincote. Food is paramount here, and all the produce is sourced locally to make it as fresh and as full of flavour as possible. Stefan, the chef, combines flair with imagination to prepare dishes that not only please the palate, they please the eyes and the pocket as well! There is seating indoors for 30, and there is an outdoor area that seats a further 30. The air conditioned restaurant seats 56 in absolute comfort. The décor and furnishings are smart and modern, yet are comfortable and inviting. Whether it's a cup of coffee you want after a hard day`s shopping, a refreshing beer, an tantalizing bar meal or an intimate dinner in the evening, you need look no further than the Yard Café Bar and Restaurant!

Our A la Carte Restaurant is open 5 nights a week Tues-Sat.

Bar Menu available throughout the day up until 6pm. Evening Bar menu available from 6pm Tues-Sat.

We host many different theme nights in our restaurant from £17.50 pp, including Greek, Italian, Best of British, French plus many more.

Our Restaurant is fully Air Conditioned.

Sunday Lunch is very popular, either dine in the restaurant or in the bar. Three courses plus coffee is £15 in the restaurant whilst it is £10 for two courses in the bar.

Introduction to Stefan - owner/partner and Chef

Born in Derby,

Mother is Italian

Father Polish

Trained as a chef from leaving school at an Italian restaurant

Worked in local area establishments e.g La Villa, Milanos, Lady in Grey

Came over to Swandlincote area in 1994 where he has lived and worked initially in his and wife Jo's shop: Starkeys Table Dainties

Opened own restaurant: Starkeys in 2001

Moved to the Yard premises in 2003, where he has continued to elaborate upon his own unique style offering a wide variety of choices catering specifically for any of their customers needs.

Besides catering he has another passion for Ferrari's, but has to settle for racing a go-kart

He is an excellent host for any occasion, including playing his own guitar

Some of his non-culinary artistic creations can de seen on display in The Yard.
